Dr. Manish Itolikar, Consultant Physician, Fortis Hospital Mulund says, "Common parasites spread by cockroaches are Entamoeba Histolytica and Giardia Duodenalis. Entamoeba can cause dysentery and liver abscess. Common viral diseases spread by cockroaches are Rota Virus and Hepatitis A Virus. RotaVirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhoea in young children. Hepatitis A causes acute Hepatitis and Jaundice. Therefore, pest control is necessary for prevention of these harmful diseases.
